oshua Da Silva and Amir Jangoo have been recalled to the West Indies squad for the two-match World Test Championship series against Sri Lanka at home later this month. Fast bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph also return after missing the tours of India and New Zealand late last year through injury.

Tevin Imlach kept wicket when West Indies last played Test cricket in New Zealand in December. Da Silva, with 33 Test appearances, has been brought back after scoring 996 runs across the last two West Indies Championship seasons. Imlach, who managed 81 runs in six innings in New Zealand after making 33 in his only Test in India, will captain a West Indies Select XI against Sri Lanka in a four-day tour match in Coolidge from 18 to 21 June. Roston Chase remains Test captain.

West Indies vs Sri Lanka Tests

  • 25–29 June — 1st Test, North Sound
  • 3–7 July — 2nd Test, North Sound

Jangoo was dropped after a single Test in Multan in January 2025, where he scored 0 and 30. He forced his way back with 411 runs in seven innings in the latest West Indies Championship, finishing second on the run charts behind Da Silva’s 413 from seven outings. Jangoo’s season highlight was an unbeaten 203 for Trinidad & Tobago against Leeward Islands.

Alzarri and Shamar Joseph last played Test cricket during the home series against Australia in mid-2025.

Head coach Daren Sammy said every Test series offers a chance for the side to grow and sharpen its identity. He described Sri Lanka as a quality opponent and stressed the need for discipline, character in difficult phases, and proud representation of the Caribbean. Sammy added that players have been working hard and the group is eager to perform strongly for home supporters.

Several squad members are at a high-performance camp in Antigua that began on 12 June and runs until 22 June. Players who featured in the recent white-ball series against Sri Lanka — West Indies lost the ODIs but won the T20Is — join the camp on 15 June.

Sammy said the camp is central to preparation, giving coaches and players time to sharpen skills in areas that need attention against Sri Lanka. He also said it allows clear planning for the summer finale against Pakistan. The Coolidge warm-up, he added, gives Test hopefuls high-intensity game time and increases internal competition ahead of upcoming series.

West Indies sit bottom of the nine-team WTC table in the current cycle, having lost seven of eight matches.
